Named after the Argentinean god of wind, the Pagani Huayra (pronounced “why-eera”) is powered by an AMG Mercedes-sourced 6.0-litre biturbo V12 engine with over 700hp (522kW) and 1000Nm of torque.

The engine power is fed to an XTRAC seven-speed sequential transmission which weighs 96kg and is mounted transversely behind the engine. Performance specifications haven’t been finalised, but testing has revealed the 1350kg supercar (120kg heavier than the outgoing Zonda) can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 370 km/h.

Pagani says the Huayra was designed for maximum aerodynamic efficiency. Four adjustable flaps, two in the front and two in the rear, operate independently to improve downforce as needed. When cornering, the flaps closest to the inside of the bend pop up, increasing downforce and thus grip on the unloaded inside wheels, and reducing body roll.

Inside, the slightly roomier cabin features premium leather upholstery, milled aluminum components, and loads of carbon fiber trim. The gear selector rises from the centre console, and the multi-function steering wheel incorporates controls for the lights, wipers, indicators, and even a switch that alters the electronic stability control and gearbox settings. The Huayra is also equipped with a touch-screen infotainment system and Bluetooth connectivity.
